Turning House Parties into Exciting Music Games

Introduction

Partyking approached KPI Creatives with an idea to develop a mobile app that would enhance house parties by making collaborative music selection an exciting experience. The vision was to eliminate the arguments about whose track should play next and transform it into a fun, game-like competition. KPI Creatives took on this challenge by developing the mobile app for both iOS and Android platforms, as well as creating a promotional video and content for App Store Optimization (ASO).

Challenge & approach

The main challenge was to create an app that provided an intuitive and exciting user experience while allowing multiple users to interact collaboratively with music selection. Additionally, effective promotion was needed to ensure the app gained traction among early adopters and received valuable user feedback for continuous improvement.

We conducted extensive User Persona research to understand the target audience and their needs. This was followed by UX Research to ensure the app's functionality and flow matched user expectations. Our UI Development focused on creating an engaging and easy-to-use interface, which was tested rigorously through multiple rounds of UI Tests to refine the experience. To find enthusiastic alpha testers, we ran a targeted promotional campaign. The campaign included a playful and inviting call to action that encouraged party lovers to sign up as early adopters. Interested users were asked to take a quick quiz, after which selected testers received the app for free to try at their parties. Our team also produced content for ASO to optimize the app's visibility in app stores. We developed a promo video showcasing the app's features and how it could enhance the party experience. This helped in attracting early users and building excitement around the app.

Results

Engagement with Early Adopters: The alpha testing campaign successfully attracted a diverse group of party enthusiasts who provided valuable feedback. This helped us refine the app and enhance its user experience.

User-Driven Development: The continuous feedback loop with alpha testers allowed us to make targeted improvements, ultimately developing a highly engaging app that users loved.

Promotional Success: The promotional video and ASO efforts helped boost the app's visibility, resulting in a growing community of excited users eager to use the app at their parties.

Positive User Feedback: Testers appreciated the fun, interactive aspect of the app, with many users noting that it solved the common problem of music disagreements at parties in a playful and engaging way.
